Live Love Care Think Learn Dare

Reception Times – 7 October 2016

This Week:

We have had so much fun this week! We have been learning songs and practicing a choral story ready for our Harvest Festival service. We have been painting vegetables that grow in the UK, making autumn bunting, creating dewy spider webs using glitter and sorting the leaves falling from our trees. The children thoroughly enjoyed Mrs Collins’s collective worship about our Owl Value of the month, ‘Kindness’. Can your children remember the story of ‘The Good Samaritan?’

In phonics we have learnt to read and write the sounds-‘o’, ‘c’, ‘k’ and ‘u’. We are beginning to read words by segmenting and blending them; a-n-d = and. Can your child read some of the green words in the front of their reading record book?

This week we have been learning to use the language of time, recall the days of the week in order, tell the time at o’clock times on an analogue clock and use positional language such as ‘in between’, ‘under’, ‘left’ and ‘right’. Can your child remember the days of the week?

Learning Journeys:

Next week’s Learning Journeys will be Ava H, Tommy and Emily.

We are taking donations for Banbury Food Bank throughout next week as part of our Harvest celebrations. Any donations of non-perishable items (pasta, rice, coffee, cereal etc.) would be greatly appreciated.

We still don’t have enough parent helpers to walk to church with us on Thursday. Please let us know if you can help out.

Next week:

Mrs Macdonald is excited about starting Forest School next week on the school field. Group 1 morning children need to come in full kit on Tuesday (11th Oct)- waterproofs, wellies, hat, scarf and gloves. Please do not send children in all in one waterproofs. Group 1 afternoon children will need to bring their Forest kit in a separate bag on Tuesday. If you haven’t done so already, please have a look at the Forest School board outside the classroom to see which group your child is in and sign up if you would like to help on a session.

We will be walking to church on Thursday morning for our whole school Harvest Service. Please make sure your child has a coat.

Have a great weekend!
