Live Love Care Think Learn Dare

Reception Times 9 June 2017

This Week:

We have had a great first week back. This week we have been focusing on different types of holidays. The children have been talking about their experiences over half term and many children said they had enjoyed camping. Inside we have been playing in the camp site role play area, making tents using nets of pyramids and prisms and writing diagrams of things you might need on a camping holiday.

Outside we have been learning about transport. We have printed a backdrop for transport small world play, sorted different types of transport and held a ‘car wash’ where the bikes and boat have had a thorough clean!

Mrs Collins delivered a wonderful Collective Worship on looking after our environment to fit in with our Owl Value of the month ‘Environment Preservation’.

Miss Persaud and Mrs Nixon attended an Early Years Inspiration day on Thursday which was truly inspirational.

Phonics is going well. We are continually assessing children to ensure that they are getting personalised provision.

This week we have been learning to count beyond 20 and write numbers between 0 and 100. Can your child write numbers into the 20s?

Learning Journeys:

Next week’s Learning Journeys will be Noah, Chloe, Barney, Ella and Bonnie.

Please keep your child (and any younger children) with you before and after school. Could you also ensure you close school gates behind you if you are the last person to leave.

Punctuality – Please arrive at school on time. We open the gate as soon as the older children have gone in and lock it promptly at 9am. Please avoid coming in through the Nursery gate after 9am to avoid disruption.

Head lice and nits reported in boys and girls. Please check your child’s hair.

Spare Clothes and PE kits need to be in school and named please.

We are working on arrangements for Year 1 and will be having a meeting shortly with the Key Stage 1 teachers. We will let you and your child know whose class they will be in on Wednesday 28th June.

Next Week:

Forest School Group 1 on Tuesday – thank you to parents who have already signed up.

PE on Monday.

We will be continuing to think about different types of holidays and transport.
