Live Love Care Think Learn Dare

Reception Times 9 November 2018

This Week:

We have packed a lot in this week celebrating Bonfire Night, the Hindu festival of Diwali and thinking about Remembrance Day!

Inside we have been marble rolling in fluorescent paint to create firework scenes, making bonfire night collages, learning to recognise the Indian flag, colouring Rangoli patterns and designing our own Mehndi hand patterns.  We also made our own poppies.

Outside we have been making clay Diva lamps ready to paint next week.

We attended the whole-school Remembrance Service on Friday.  Thank you to those who donated money to the Poppy Appeal.

Forest Group 1 made impressive wooden poppies using a variety of skills.

Miss Persaud made jam tarts with the Learning Journey children.

Phonics & Maths:

In Phonics we have learnt our new sounds r, j, v and y. Thank you for helping your child to practice these at home.

In Maths we have been learning to recognise and order numbers to 10 and working on number sentences.  Can your child write single digit numbers in sequence?

Next Week:

We will be continuing some activities on Diwali.

It is anti-bullying week. We will be thinking about what it means to be a good friend.  We will also be having a Make Me Smile day on Tuesday and on Thursday we are taking part in the Understanding Christianity school day.

Learning Journeys:

Learning Journey children will be Tabitha, Jack, Alfie and Struan.

Please take a look at our Wishing Tree located between the Nursery and the Reception Class under the Forest Schools Noticeboard.  Thank you for any donations you can makeJ

You are warmly invited to St Peter’s Church for the Remembrance Day service at 10.45am this Sunday.

Forest School for Group 2 on Tuesday 13th November.  Mrs Macdonald has requested that children bring at least one packet of biscuits during the term for their group to share in the Forest.  Thank you to the parent volunteers who have signed up to help.

Please sort out any unwanted cuddly toys and keep them ready for our Christmas Fair Teddy Tombola.  Thank you.

Please keep younger children with you in our outdoor area.

Have a nice relaxing weekend.
