SEND
At Hook Norton C of E School, our aim is to create a culture of inclusivity that ensures that all children, regardless of their background or individual needs, are happy, safe, and able to achieve their full potential.
Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)
Our school believes that each pupil has individual and unique needs with some pupils requiring more support than others. Sometimes children are identified with particular learning needs that are not being met through the mainstream curriculum. We support these children through various means, for example, an adapted curriculum, smaller working groups and implementing additional adult support.
How do I know if my child needs SEN support?
Teachers use assessments and evaluations to make a clear analysis of a child's needs. The pupil, parents / carers and our SENCo Lead will be involved in this process. If SEN supported is then required, a plan will be written and regularly reviewed.
Educational Health Care Plan
Some children require a higher level of support, and it might be necessary to apply for an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP). This ensures the school is meeting the child's more complex needs and that outside agencies are involved where appropriate. Parents / carers will be part of this process.
