Volunteer With Us
We warmly welcome parents, extended family members and the wider community to consider volunteering at our school.
“Volunteering is a very rewarding activity. You can give as little or as much time as you can, and the school is always very appreciative of the support that you give. It comes in all forms from listening to children read, helping them with their maths, accompanying children on school visits or helping with design and technology projects. I have been volunteering for many years and for me the best reward is seeing how the children grow, develop and improve their skills because of the one to one time that I give them.” Louisa.
Some of the ways you might be able to get involved:
- Listening to children read
- Help in classrooms
- Give talks to children in assembly or their classrooms
- Help on school trips
- Work in our school library
- Use specific skills to help with grant applications
- Get involved with Friends of Hook Norton School (FOHNS)
- Bring a talent to our school – be it music, art, P.E., performing arts or something else extra special
We recognise the enormous benefits that volunteers bring to the school – it can quite literally help to change a child’s life. In return, the school hopes to give volunteers an opportunity to use their skills in a new environment and gain new experiences – hopefully whilst having some fun at the same time!
Many of our volunteers have gone on to use this experience to gain jobs within our school or in other local schools. Others find it a lovely way to do something rewarding with their time in their retirement years.
“I first volunteered to read with the younger children in Key Stage 1. I loved witnessing the “ahhh I get it!” moments. This was something I could do when my youngest child started in the Nursery and I found myself with a little spare time. A position then became available to work as a Teaching Assistant and I was fortunate to get the job. 4 years later and I am still here and very happy!” Leigh
If you’d like to volunteer at our school, please get in touch with the office team and they will happily talk you through the process.
